California is a trout fisherman's paradise. The American River and
its' tributaries offer one of the most dramatic watersheds in the country to serve as a
back-drop for great trout fishing. One of the best expedition opportunities comes in
late April with the opening of Trout season. Grab your rod and your camping gear and
head out for a great weekend. You can either find a remote spot up around Auburn or
Georgetown, or stick close to town down around Folsom.
For the Southern Californian there's Big Bear Lake, and the reservoirs
around Los Angeles. Oh, and don't forget the the best destination of all...the
Golden Trout Wilderness at the southern end of the Sierra.
